Upnor is a refurbishment and internal refit of a disused Grade 2* listed former Royal Navy ammunition storage building. Our brief was to form a modern commercial office space for a brick importation company.

Constraints relating to the listed status of the building meant that any proposal had to be reversible. A monolithic brick sculpture was devised as a showcase of the client's business interests and was conceived to create a modern working environment where business, social interactions, meetings, and product viewings can take place. Each shift or break in mass creates double-height spaces so that the inner workings of the client's business can be viewed - in essence, the two areas become connected.
